Samoa swim series 2013

A group of us went up to Samoa in July for the second Samoa swim series.

Ten of us (8 swimmers, 2 supporters) had a great time and would recommend the series to anyone considering heading up there. Samoa is an untouched gem and the series is well run, the people loverly, the seas warm and beaches beautiful.

Dire straits 2

For those of you who haven't caught up on the news Tom swam Cook Strait yesterday in 10.36 hours starting in the South Island and coming North. 

After failing to get suitable weather in his first visit (he had cyclones, northerlies , general Wellington weather) ,  Tom had to wait 2 years to get another slot.

Dire Straits

Whilst enjoying a post swim coffee on Sunday morning at the Parade Cafe we came across (or rather he came across us) a hardy American swimmer who is in Wellington with plans to swim Cook Strait. Tom Hecker is here with a support crew of family that fortunately are all involved in healthcare. Bringing your own nurses along is one way to ensure you'll be safe.
