Missed last week as I was in Tauporiding half the lake challenge, the best result ever finishing 5th in my age group and 80th overall, amazing.
Up and ready early this morning to try and have a more leisurely trip to Freyberg Beach. Raewyn came with me as she needed to do some things in Wellington. Beaut swim conditions no wind Freyberg beach Barb's message arrived as the jug boiled announcing another Sunday morning sea swim. The sky looked oily black as I drove into Wellington making it feel like the middle of Winter. Arrived at Freyberg with the sky threatening to fall. There were fewer people waiting around Barb's car when I arrived and got out to go through my routine of a quick dash to the loos to finish dressing and the obligatory pee.

Another Sunday had a fitful nights sleep thought of staying in bed when Barb's text came through, ' not a wave at Freyberg Beach easterly. Great swim conditions." Well if I want to do my half ironman in December I better get out of bed and get to Freybeg. It was 7.10 am when I got out of bed and quickly got my layers on. Up again Sunday morning 6.39am gulped down my coffee and porridge and into the car and on my way to Freyberg Beach still half asleep. Didn't have a good swim at the pool yesterday so hoping for better today. Out of the car and made my way across to the loos to finish getting my gears on then over to Barb's car for Bryn to shake me into my wet suit. The water temp has apparently warmed up enough that we can swim out to the second yellow buoy.
