Interested in Sea Swimming but not sure how warm it is or how clean it is?

If you're thinking about joining us in the sea here is some information that may be useful from the Greater Wellington Regional Council.

Water Temperature in the harbour is monitored daily and can be found on this page. The temperature at Freyberg beach is usually a degree warmer than this.

The Regional Council also monitors water quality at the local beaches regularly. Overall the beaches are very good with the exceptions being after a very heavy downpour when it's best wait for 24-48 hours before swimming. This Greater Wellington Regional Council site should have weekly monitoring reports on it from 1 November onwards. This page covers Freyberg Beach specifically.

If you've signed up for txt alerts on Sunday mornings (Click on your "settings" link near the top right of this page to enter a number) Barb will let you know if there are any issues. Generally we only cancel one or two a year due to weather though.

In case you have not seen this already....A neoprene Skullcap was found at Freyberg beach a while back by one of our former squad members. If you've lost a skullcap or know someone who has, get in touch with me. Might pay to have a check around as most of us are not using our caps now and you may not noticed it is missing until you really need it in May/June.
